Wins for Jai Hind, West Berbice, West Dem Masters and Mavericks


Jai Hind, West Berbice and West Demerara Masters recorded victories in round two of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Over-40 T20 competition, sponsored by Tropical Spring Water.

Also registering full points on Sunday were West Demerara Mavericks, but they did so without breaking a sweat as they gained a walkover from KV Construction.

At Jai Hind ground: Jai Hind defeated Sarjoo Tigers by 37 runs. Jai Hind 154-7 (Subramani Mangal 36, Kemraj Sumair 29, Zahir Moakan 18, David Perreira 2-19) vs Sarjoo Tigers 117 all out (Tagenarine Ramroop 39, Surendra Hiralall 33, Rafeek Kassim 2-2, Subramani Mangal 2-8)

At Jai Hind ground: West Berbice defeated General Marine Masters by six wickets. General Marine Masters 91-9 (Daiaram Hemraj 23, Mustak Shaw 18, Rajban Hemraj 4-8) vs West Berbice 92-4 (Jaipaul Hiralall 44*, Hemchan Persaud 2-6)

At Enmore ground: West Demerara Masters defeated Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec by seven wickets. Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec 78-9 (Richard Rambarran 18, Nadir Baksh 11, Nirmaldeo Sarwan 10, Shaun Massiah 10, Mohamed Abit Haniff 2-5) vs West Demerara Masters 79-3 (Ramesh Thakur 19, Sudesh Persaud 18, Chabiraj Ramcharran 17*, Patrick Khan 17*)

The matches at Everest were abandoned without a ball bowled.

The tournament will continue on Tuesday (November 24) with matches in Demerara. The first match at the Enmore Community Centre will begin at 09:30h with West Demerara Mavericks competing against West Demerara Masters, followed by RP Construction Legends versus Everest Masters.

At the Everest Cricket club ground, Bel-Air Rubis Ultra Tec will battle Regal Masters in the morning encounter, which begins at 09:30h, while at 13:45h, KV Construction Masters will compete against Sandpiper Masters.
