47 new COVID-19 cases recorded from 364 tests

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday recorded 47 new COVID-19 cases from 364 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 5, 236.

The new cases were recorded in Region Two with one new case, Region Three recorded eight new cases, Region Four recorded nine new cases, Region Five two new cases, Region Seven has 12 new cases and Region Ten has 14 new cases.

The Ministry earlier on Wednesday reported that a 53-year-old woman from Region Four and 69-year-old Rudolph Williams, Anna Regina’s Deputy Mayor, died from COVID-19, taking Guyana’s death toll to 149.

Fifteen family members, including Williams’ wife, his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren all tested positive and are currently in home isolation.

As of Wednesday, there are eight patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital, 108 in institutional isolation and 731 in home isolation. To date, 4, 242 persons have recovered.

The total number of COVID-19 tests done to date is 28, 542.
