Olympic Association shocked by passing of Council Member Archer

The Guyana Olympic Association on Wednesday expressed shock and sadness at the passing of its Council Member, Raoul Archer. Archer was also the President of the Guyana Judo Association.

Below is a statement issued by the Olympic Association on Wednesday.

It is with shock and great sadness that the Guyana Olympic Association has learnt of the passing this morning of Mr. Raoul Archer, President of the Guyana Judo Association and a Council Member of the GOA.

Mr. Archer will be remembered for his dedication to sport and more especially the development of Judo in Guyana.

The GOA has had the distinct pleasure of working with Mr. Archer during his time as a Council Member and for his sterling contributions made over the years to the activities of the Guyana Olympic Association.

The sporting fraternity of Guyana has suffered a tremendous loss.

On behalf of the President, Executive and members of the Guyana Olympic Association, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to his wife and other members of the Archer family, friends, executive and members of the Guyana Judo Association.
