Four hundred soldiers and civilian employees drawn from units of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) were honoured Friday with monetary incentives at a simple ceremony held at the auditorium, Base Camp Ayanganna.

A release from the GDF noted that staff Officer One General One (SO1G1), Major Greasels Hinckson indicated that the incentives serve as tokens of appreciation for outstanding performances demonstrated by the ranks and civilian employees who remain committed throughout the year and would have gone beyond the regular call of duty.

In brief remarks, Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Best congratulated the awardees and charged them to continue setting high standards.

He also reminded them of their value to the Force as an organisation.

“I encourage you to continue supporting and inspiring each other, and to ensure the safety of yourselves and family members against COVID 19,” he said.

Incentives are awarded annually to boost motivation and foster teamwork, the GDF noted.
