P&P Insurance Brokers and Consultants Limited has continued its support of the annual Prime Minister’s Softball T20 Cup.

The fourth edition of the tournament got underway Friday across grounds in the city and East Coast Demerara, and the Insurance company made a timely donation to the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. – the organising body of the event – at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

Executive Director Vikash Panday said despite the turmoil the year has been for most, they still saw it fit to support the tournament and they hope it can continue as softball continues to develop in Guyana and the diaspora.

President of the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc., Ian John, expressed gratitude for the continued support, more so given the financial impact of COVID-19 on businesses, and hopes that this partnership can continue to grow.

John also explained the tournament got underway with one team – Sunrise Masters (Over-45) – pulling out at the last minute, but otherwise it has been a smooth start.

He said masks and sanitisers were distributed to all teams prior to the start of play.

The three finals- All Stars (Open), Masters (Over-45) and Legends (Over-50)- all of which play for a winning purse of $200,000, will be contested on Sunday at the Everest ground.

Smart Televisions will be given to the Most Valuable Players. Last year, Regal softball teams won two of the three finals (Over-45 and Over-50).
