Security officer in breach of curfew found with gun, ammo
A security officer and his friends who were Saturday night liming past the curfew time at the Chico Ramas Gas Station at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara (ECD) are currently in police custody.
The security officer was only identified by the police as a 46-year-old male of Park Street, Enterprise, ECD.
According to the police. at about 23:20h, a team of policemen was on patrol when they observed persons consuming alcohol at the Chico Ramas Gas Station.
At the time, a Toyota Allion car was parked with a female seated in the front passenger seat, while several males were seated on a bench next to the vehicle.
Police said the individuals were warned and told to return to their respective homes when the security officer approached the car, opened the right rear door and removed an object that appeared to be a firearm; he then went to the western half of the gas station and threw the object near a pile stand.
Ranks, upon searching the area, recovered a 9MM along with 12 live ammunition.
The individuals were arrested and taken to the Vigilance Police Station for possession of firearm and ammunition.
Investigations are in progress.
