O-40 Cricket: Only one match possible in fifth round

Only 22.2 overs were possible in the scheduled four games in fifth round play of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Over-40 T20 competition, sponsored by Tropical Spring Water, on Monday.

The first game at Everest was abandoned due to early morning showers, resulting in Everest Masters and Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec sharing the points.

In the afternoon contest, reduced to 12 overs per side, West Demerara Masters defeated Sandpiper Masters by three wickets.

SUMMARY: Sandpiper Masters 60 all out in 11.4 overs (Bhupendra Deokie 20, Seenarine Mathura 2-5, Sudesh Persaud 2-15) vs West Demerara Masters 62-7 from 10.4 overs (Seenarine Mathura 13, Patrick Khan 12*, Parmanand Deokie 2-5, Ryan Mangah 2-6, Nandkishore Ram 2-19)

No play was possible at the Enmore Community Centre ground. Regal Masters and RP Construction Legends gained walkover from West Demerara Mavericks and KV Construction Masters respectively.

The sixth and penultimate round of the preliminary phase would be contested on Wednesday (December 2).

At Everest: Everest Masters versus KV Construction Masters from 09:30h and Sandpiper Masters versus West Demerara Mavericks from 13:45h.

At Enmore: Regal Masters versus West Demerara Masters from 09:30h and RP Construction Legends versus Rubis Bel Air Ultra Tec from 13:45h.
