73 new COVID-19 cases recorded

The Ministry of Health on Friday recorded 73 new COVID-19 cases from 230 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 5, 601.

Thirty of the new cases were recorded in Region Four while Region One recorded 18 new cases. The other regions that recorded new cases include Regions Two and Three with two new cases each; Region Five and Six each recorded one new case; Region Seven recorded 10 new cases; Region Nine recorded three new cases; and Region Ten recorded six new cases.

There are 705 patients in home isolation, 45 in institutional isolation and five patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.

An additional 22 persons, who came into contact with positive patients, are in institutional quarantine.

To date, 151 persons have died and 4, 695 persons have recovered from the dreaded disease.
