The body of a female toddler was found floating in a canal at Crane Squatting Area, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Saturday morning.
The police, in a short statement, said the baby’s name and age is unknown.
The body, which measures twelve inches in length, was discovered naked, floating with the face upwards and the left hand missing.
Ranks visited the scene based information received and escorted the body to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where the toddler was officially pronounced dead and taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem.
Investigations are ongoing.
