Rutherford, Barnwell, Hemraj among Guyanese in US Open T20

The 12th edition of the US Open T20 Cup has attracted a significant number of active and former senior national cricketers of Guyana.

The senior national cricketers include Ronsford Beaton, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Gudakesh Motie, Paul Wintz, Assad Fudadin, Trevon Griffith, Ashmead Nedd, Kevin Sinclair, Sherfane Rutherford, Devendra Bishoo, Anthony Bramble and Christopher Barnwell, and former national player Derwin Christian.

According to a Cricket Guyana Inc. official, the contracted Guyana Jaguars players were given some time off to play in the tournament. West Indies T20 stars Andre Russell and Chris Gayle are also listed to participate.

The 15-match tournament runs from December 15-20 and will have three matches daily at the Central Broward County Stadium. Match times are 13:00h, 16:30h and 20:00h.

The top two teams from the groups progress to the semi-finals. Since 2014, the tournament has been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council.

The defending champions are Somerset Cavaliers.
