BCB shortlists 29 players to continue training for U-19 selection
The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has shortlisted 29 players to continue training for possible selection to the Berbice Under-19 team for the Inter-county competition, which could be held in early 2021.
After two trial matches over the last week, the BCB selectors narrowed the list down to 29, and according to President Hilbert Foster, more opportunities would be provided to the players in the coming weeks to ensure they are ready to represent the county.
Berbice is the only county board currently preparing its youth cricketers for upcoming engagements.
Foster indicated to News Room Sport on Wednesday that the players would be involved in one more trial match before the end of the year.
Following that game, the final Berbice squad would be selected to undergo three to four weeks of “intense
training” under the guidance and supervision of Coach Winston Smith and Manager Neil Rudder, Foster highlighted.
