Woman dies after speeding driver crashes into fence

Deoranie Sukhram, a 43-year-old resident of Dundee, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, lost her life after the minibus she was travelling in crashed into a fence on the Brittania public road, West Coast Berbice (WCB) Friday morning.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the accident occurred at around 06:20h; the minibus – BPP 7638 – was being driven by 40-year-old Ukhram Tillack of No# 7 Village, WCB.

The speeding driver crashed into a fence

Police said the vehicle was proceeding east along the wet road at a fast rate of speed and while approaching a right bend, the driver lost control and collided with a fence on the northern side of the road.

Sukhram was in the front passenger seat; the driver and another passenger, Neola Barnwell, 38, of Eldorado, WCD,   received injuries and were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where Sukhram was pronounced dead on arrival.
