The Ministry of Health on Saturday recorded 40 new COVID-19 cases from 305 tests. This means there are now 5, 879 confirmed cases of the dreaded disease in Guyana.
The majority of the new cases were recorded in Region Ten with 19 new cases; Region Four recorded seven new cases, Regions Two and Six recorded four new cases each, Region One recorded three new cases, Region Three recorded two new cases and Region Seven one new case.
A total of 100 new recoveries were also recorded, taking the overall recoveries to 5, 044.
There are 628 patients in home isolation, 47 in institutional isolation and six critical patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.
The Ministry to date recorded 154 COVID-19 deaths.
