Suspected bandit shot dead in Eccles


Police are investigating the shooting death of a so far unidentified man which occurred on Friday night at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Regional Commander, Superintendent Linden Isles told the News Room that the shooting occurred at about 21:45h; the man, suspected to be a bandit, was shot by a security guard employed with Delta Security Service.

Commander Isles explained that the security guard alleged that he observed two unidentifiable men in the compound of Sueria Manufacturing, located at Lot 70 Industrial Site, Eccles. The security guard reported that upon approaching the men, one of them fired a shot at him and in return, he took cover and returned fire.

As a result, one of the men was shot, while the other escaped by scaling the fence. Police have not recovered any spent shells or guns from the scene and are yet to review security footage of the incident.
