An operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has resulted in the seizure of over 150 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of four persons at a house located at Dartmouth on the Essequibo Coast.
Head of CANU, James Singh confirmed the bust with the News Room on Saturday.
The News Room understands that CANU ranks swooped down on the property just after noon on Saturday (at about 13:00h) where the four individuals were found along with the illicit substance.
The identities of those arrested are not immediately known. Photos show that the marijuana was already packaged and placed in suitcases, possibly for transport outside of Guyana.
The News Room understands that the persons were under surveillance for a while by CANU. No additional information was immediately available.
