Atlanta Paramveers emerged champions of the US Open T20 tournament, beating 22 Yards by 10 runs in a competitive final on Sunday at the Central Broward Regional Park.

After amassing 182-6, Atlanta Paramveers restricted 22 Yards to 172-7 to win the tournament, which lasted six days.

Atlanta Paramveers were led by an attacking 70 from 50 balls from Johnson Charles and 49 off 36 from Chris Gayle, who batted at three.

The West Indian pair added 107 in 12.3 overs for the second wicket after the early loss of opener Darpan Patel for two.

Charles struck nine fours and a six, while Gayle’s knock included four fours and three sixes. South African Wayne Parnell contributed 27* off 12 (5x4s) towards the backend of the innings.

Bowling for 22 Yards, Sherfane Rutherford picked up 3-24, while there was a wicket each for Ashmead Nedd, Jasdeep Singh and Christopher Barnwell.

In reply, 22 Yards got starts from Guyanese pair Trevon Griffith (42) and Barnwell (35) and opener Ahad Malek (28), but they could not overhaul the target.

Parnell completed a fine day, claiming 2-27, while Gayle and Evroy Dyer had a wicket each.
