Corentyne pensioner robbed of jewellery, cash

An 87-year-old pensioner of No.67 Village, Corentyne Berbice was robbed of a quantity of jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash on Sunday night.

Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that Homeranie Balram was awakened by two suspects – an unidentified male and female at about 23:00h on Sunday. The suspects ordered Balram to stay quiet while they ransacked the house and escaped with the jewellery and cash.

Police said Balram secured her house and retired to bed at about 19:30h on the evening in question. The woman lived in the lower flat of two-storey house. According to the police, the suspects made their way to the upper flat of the building and escaped. Investigations are ongoing.
