Teen girl, maid held at gunpoint, robbed of millions in items

A 17-year-old girl, a maid and her daughter were reportedly held at gunpoint and had their hands tied together by four bandits armed with handguns and a knife on Wednesday.

Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that the incident occurred at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) at about 15:00h.

According to the statement the bandits carted off an 85 inch Samsung smart television valued at $500,000; a Samsung S9 cellphone valued $140,000; one Iphone 11 valued at $230,000; a play station 4 video game valued at $100,000; one HP Lap top computer valued at $230,000; a quantity of jewellery worth $500,000, $50,000 cash and one licenced .32 Smith & Wesson pistol and fourteen .32 live ammunitions valued at $340,000.

The maid was robbed of her cellphone valued at $5000. The house is owned by the teen’s mother, who was home alone with the maid at the time of the robbery.

Police said the bandits drove a grey tinted Fielder Wagon into the yard and entered the house through a southern door that was opened at the time and held the victims at gun point and demanded gold and cash.

After the bandits tied the victims together, they ransacked the house and made off with the items.

Police investigations are ongoing.
