51-year-old Uitvlugt man found dead

Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man of De-Groot, Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD) who was discovered motionless by his son on Christmas Day.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) headquarters in a statement on Saturday said initial enquiries disclosed that Hubert Henry was an alcoholic who suffers from epilepsy. It is alleged that he normally consumed alcohol.

At around 07:00 hrs on Friday, he was discovered lying on the ground by his 26-year-old son Shivnanand Henry, a fisherman, who was on his way to the washroom.

Henry told the police that he had placed his father on a bed under the house and subsequently observed that he was motionless.

A report was made to the Leonora Police Station.

Police said the body was examined and blood stains were seen on the stomach and right ear.

The body was taken to Leonora Hospital and then to the Ezekiel funeral Parlor where a post mortem examination is expected to be performed.
