Cop shot by ‘Team Diamond crew’ during robbery


A 21-year-old Police Constable of Buxton, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D.) is currently nursing a single gunshot wound to his upper right-side back after he was reportedly shot and robbed on Saturday morning.

Police said James Gordon, who is stationed at the Port Kaituma Station, went to a party at of Middle Walk, Buxton at about 23:00hr on Friday.

There, he was approached by a man whom he had a previous misunderstanding with and seven other men –all belonging to a group Police described as ‘Team Diamond Crew.’ They attacked him and dealt him several cuffs and kicks about his body.

The men relieved Gordon of three gold chains valued at $300,000 and a cellphone valued at $120,000.

Gordon reportedly ran away but alleged that the men pulled out firearms and discharged several rounds in his direction.

He was shot to the upper right side of his back and lost consciousness.

Gordon was picked up and rushed to the GPHC where he is presently receiving treatment.

Investigations are still ongoing.
