61-year-old man burnt to death in house
The charred remains of a 61-year-old man Roy Rajbanse, was on Sunday found in the rubble of his Jackson Creek, East-Berbice Corentyne house.
Police said enquiries disclosed that Rajbanse and a farmer of Moleson Creek were consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes outside his house at about 16:00hr on Saturday.
Reports are that they both became intoxicated and retired to their residences.
However, at about 6:20hr on Sunday, persons were passing on the access road when they observed a fire at Rajbanse house and raised alarm. They notified the Police and the Guyana Fire Service who responded promptly and immediately went into action and extinguished the fire.
Police said subsequently, the charred remains of a human was discovered.
The body is presently at the Baileys Funeral Home awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
