A 45-year-old man of Back Street Den-Amstel West Coast Demerara (WCD) is nursing injuries to his leg after he was struck down by an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) driven by a Police Constable, also of Den Amstel.

Police said Constable Lyle was driving the ATV belonging to the Guyana Police Force at about 17:00hrs on Christmas Day on the Den Amstel public road when he lost control and crashed into Shawn Peters.

Initial enquiries revealed that Constable Lyle was speeding on the western side of the road while Peters was also walking on that side of the road.

The Cop told investigators that the ATV developed a problem causing him to lose control and ran off the road where he collided with Peters.

The pedestrian fell onto the road way and received injuries to his leg; he was picked up in a conscious state by an ambulance and taken to Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

Constable Lyle was given a breathalyzer test which shows that he had .14 & .15 micrograms of alcohol in his system.

Investigations are ongoing
