Cuban national arrested for murder of partner, young daughter
Police have arrested 27-year-old Joel Rodriguez, known as Yoel Rodriguez Barientos, for the murder of his partner Tara Krishnaran and her 11-year-old daughter.
The Cuban national was arrested at Amelia’s Ward, Linden on Sunday, police said.
Rodriguez murdered the woman and her daughter sometime between Christmas Night and Boxing Day at their Princess Street, Lodge, Georgetown home.
The police recovered a blood-stained hammer and knife at the scene.
The woman’s father, who also lived at the house, told investigators that the couple were involved in an argument at about 17:30hrs on December 25 and a fight ensued.
The man said he went to bed since fights between the couple were a normal occurrence.
The older man said he woke up at about 08:00 h on Boxing Day but did not check on his daughter, thinking that she went to work and took her child as is customary.
However, at about 20:30hrs, the man said he decided to check to his daughter’s room. It was then that he made the gruesome discovery. He saw his daughter lying motionless on a bed and granddaughter on the floor.
The Police said wounds were discovered to the back of the woman’s head, left side temple and left side of the face; the child had a wound about six inches in length to her neck and what appeared to be blood on her private parts.
