Taxi driver held at gunpoint, car stolen with passenger inside

A 34-year-old taxi driver, Kevin Hope was on Tuesday robbed of his HC 8929 new model white premio car valued at $3.2M by two unidentified suspects. Police reported that one of the suspects was armed with a hand gun and also robbed Hope of his Samsung cellphone valued $48,000, a jumper wire kit valued $15,000, a motorola radio set valued $50,000 and $2,000 cash.

The incident occurred at about 20:30h at Good Success, East Bank Demerara.

According to reports, the male passenger hired the taxi from a hotel in Georgetown about 20:00h to take him to Good Success and upon arrival there, Hope said he was confronted by the two suspects who hit to the head and discharged one round in the air.

He was then ordered to exit the car and the two suspects then entered the vehicle with the passenger inside and drove off in a southern direction.
Police investigations are ongoing.
