Police are investigating a fire of unknown origin which completely destroyed the wooden house of Ann Eve Knights, 25, a businesswoman of North Haslingston, East Coast Demerara on Saturday night.
Police said Knights lived with her sister and about 20:15h on Saturday, she left to purchase bread and pastries for her business.
While at President College Road she received information that her home was on fire and immediately returned.
The Guyana Fire Service were summoned and while they managed to extinguish the blaze, the house was already destroyed.
Police said the house was not equipped with electricity.
Investigations are ongoing.
