A search conducted on two inmates Monday at about 15:50h at the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara has uncovered 490 grams of suspected cannabis, one cellphone with a sim card, one earphones, 29 packets of cigarettes, a quantity of ziploc bags, 12 smoking papers, a quantity of tobacco leaves and $30,000. All of the items were confiscated and lodged at the Vigilance Police Station.
The Lusignan Prison have had numerous reports of corruption involving prison officers and inmates.
