Guyana and West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd has tested positive for coronavirus.
Multiple sources have confirmed to News Room Sport that the Berbician, who was selected as part of the West Indies ODI squad for the upcoming tour to Bangladesh, has returned a positive result on a test done on January 2.
It is understood, Shepherd is currently in self-isolation and is asymptomatic.
This latest development means the 26-year-old will miss the upcoming series. The three ODIs are slated for January 20, 22 and 25 in Dhaka and Chattogram.
According to the tour schedule, West Indies are due to arrive in Bangladesh on January 10 and will play a warm-up game eight days later in Savar.
Shepherd, it is understood, was due to leave Guyana on January 8 to link up with other members of the squad en route to Bangladesh.
Shepherd was outstanding with bat for West Indies A in the two Four-Day matches against New Zealand A in early December, scoring his maiden First-Class hundred (133) and following it up with an unbeaten 77.
He has represented the West Indies in five ODIs and three T20Is.
