Man who set wife, children on fire remanded on three charges of murder

Kenford Downer called “Tallman” was on Wednesday remanded to prison for the gruesome murder of his wife and two children at Bartica, Region Seven.

Downer appeared before Magistrate Crystal Lambert and was not required to plea to the three counts of murder.

Particulars of the offence alleged that on December 12 at Four Miles Squatting Area, Bartica Downer killed Caroline Kennedy and their two daughters, 5-year-old Mariana Downer and 3-year-old Gabriella Kennedy. He was remanded until January 27.

The News Room had reported that on the day in question, Downer and Kennedy had an argument and after the woman went to bed with her children, Downer lit the small wooden house on fire.

The couple had been in and out of the relationship for the past five years since Downer was reportedly abusive towards Kennedy.

The skeletal remains of the woman and the children were discovered inside the small wooden house after the fire. A post mortem examination conducted on the remains revealed that they were burnt to death.

When the police arrived at the scene, Downer was found in a nearby bush with minor burns.

    And we cannot have capital punishment for certain crimes? If not that, jail is useless for the usual 86 year sentence. The man needs medical help or a noose. Apologies for being so blunt.
