Guyana on Saturday recorded 31 new COVID-19 cases from 644 tests, taking the overall number of cases to 6, 541.

Nineteen more persons also recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 6,019.

Region Four recorded the majority of new cases with 19, followed closely by Region One with six new cases. Regions Five, Six, Eight and Ten recorded one case each while Region Nine recorded two new cases. Regions Two, Three and Seven recorded no new cases.

There are 304 patients in home isolation, 46 in institutional isolation and five patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.

So far, 167 persons have died from the virus in Guyana.
