An accident on the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdkye/Linden Highway on Friday night resulted in the death of 36-year-old Dayle Jordan, of La Retraite, West Bank Demerara and the hospitalization of his 29-year-old female friend, also of La Retraite.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the accident occurred at around 23:30h; it is alleged that Jordan was riding a motorcycle with the female as the pillion rider when he overtook a car and crashed into a pickup.
The pickup was being driven by a 51-year-old resident of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice, who was proceeding north along the western side of the road.
Jordan and his friend were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The female was admitted as a patient.
Police said the driver of the pickup was found to be above the legal limit of alcohol with .77% and .70% micrograms. He is in custody assisting with the investigation.
