    Thirty-five of the 65 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Tuesday are from Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice). The new cases are from 391 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 6, 653.

    Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony earlier on Tuesday revealed that the indigenous village of Moraikobai in Region Five is now seeing a spike in cases.

    Meanwhile, the other cases were recorded in Region Four with 21 new cases, Region Three recorded two new cases, Region Six one new case, Region Seven recorded four new cases and Region Ten two new cases.

    There are 378 patients in home isolation, 55 patients are in institutional isolation and three patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.

    An additional 34 persons who came into contact with positive patients are in institutional quarantine. To date, 6, 047 persons have recovered and 170 have died.
