Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony on Tuesday pleaded for more cooperation from the Toshao and Village Council in Moraikobai, Region Five as the community continues to see an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases.

“We will have to start working with them to put in some additional measures so we can contain the spread,” the Health Minister said during his daily COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday.

According to Dr Anthony, 33 cases were recorded from 71 samples; Moraikobai now accounts for the majority of the active cases in Region Five.

“We had a team that went into the area over the weekend and we did 71 samples and we have 33 positive and so we are going to go back into the area to do some more testing,” the minister said.

A team is expected to return to the village to increase testing and if the cases continue to increase, the minister said a medical team would be deployed on-site.

Region Five, as of January 11, 2021, recorded a total of 113 confirmed cases of the virus. The region’s administration had implemented a rigorous monitoring system; Region Five was the last of the administrative regions to record positive COVID-19 cases and it also continues to record the lowest number of cases
