A father of one, 31-year-old Uriel Reynolds, of Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, was crushed to death when the minibus he was driving was hit from behind by a speeding motor pick-up.
Reynold’s wife, Arranis, was also inside the minibus; she sustained a fractured right hand. The accident occurred at about 19:15h Tuesday on the Madewini Public Road, Soesdyke Linden Highway.
The News Room understands that Reynolds was proceeding north along the western roadway when the pick-up, being driven by Wesley Rodney, 47, of Linden was proceeding in the opposite direction.
It is alleged that the pick-up first collided with a motorcar, which was being driven by 55-year-old Georgetown resident, Dronacharaj Singh; as a result, Rodney lost control of the pick-up and ended up crashing into the path of the minibus. The impact caused Reynolds and his wife to receive injuries.
Reynolds was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead, while his wife is admitted a patient.
Police reported that both Rodney and Singh did breathalyzer tests but no trace of alcohol was found.
Meanwhile, Reynolds’ father, Eion Reynolds in a social media post, revealed that his son’s feet “were crushed with gapping wounds all the way through the bone and compound fracture. Persons had to literally pull the front of the bus apart to free him from where he was pinned and bleeding.”
The elder Reynolds noted sadly that his son only celebrated his 31st birthday in December 2020.
“He had so much to live for including his 7-year-old son who will greatly miss him.”
The man believes that the accident was as a result of recklessness and speeding and is now calling for a thorough investigation.
“This accident will not be swept under the rug like so many others JUSTICE will be served, if it’s the last thing I do!,” the father wrote.
Yup speeding and a careless attitude.
