Essequibo pensioner robbed of gold rings, cash

An 83-year-old pensioner of Onderneeming Sand Pitt, Essequibo Coast was robbed of her two gold rings valued at $36, 000 and $150,000 in cash.

Police Headquarters reported that Parbattie Sooklall was at home with two other relatives – Ricardo France 52, and Richard Patterson, 46 – when two men, wearing face masks and armed with a cutlass and a handgun, entered the house and demanded valuables.

The incident occurred at about 01:20h on Friday while Patterson and France were imbibing. Police said the suspects entered through a western door, which was opened and began assaulting Patterson and France. The suspects then proceeded to Sooklall’s room and made off with the items.

Police investigations are ongoing.
