Romario Shepherd, who recently recovered from testing positive for the coronavirus, turned in a brilliant all-round effort to lead Leon Johnson’s XI to a two-wicket victory over Shimron Hetmyer’s XI in the Guyana Jaguars first practice game on Monday at the LBI ground.

The Jaguars are preparing to compete in the Regional Super50, set for February 7-27 in Antigua.

Shepherd first took 4-24 off 5.3 overs as Hetmyer’s XI made 152 all out in 33.3 of the 35 overs; rain intervened after 23.3 overs and forced reduction.

Faced with a target of 143 under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method, Johnson’s XI got home at 145-8 in 30 overs with Jonathon Foo making 35, Tevin Imlach 28, Trevon Griffith 19 and Shepherd 15.
