Father of two killed in Berbice accident
An early morning accident at Number 23 Village, West Coast Berbice (Region Five) resulted in the death of 29-year-old Andre Joseph.
The News Room understands that two hire cars collided at around 04:30h while negotiating a “double bend” on the public road. Joseph, of Manchester Village, was driving HB 2975 proceeding east when he reportedly lost control and collided with HC 7197, which was proceeding in the opposite direction; this car was being driven by Collis Johnson, 39, of Number 53 Village East Berbice-Corentyne.
Johnson told the police that Joseph veered into his path, resulting in the head-on collision. Johnson and two of his passengers received injuries; they were all transported to the Fort Wellington Hospital where Joseph was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, at the home of Joseph, his mother, Sharon Joseph was in a state of shock and disbelief.
“It’s very rough for me. I’m so confused; I can’t even believe,” she said.
Joseph was the father of two children, ages 2 and 4; he was described as hardworking and caring.
