Restaurant owner robbed at gunpoint

A 51-year-old restaurant owner was robbed of $45,000 cash by four bandits, one of whom was armed with a handgun, on Thursday night.

Police Headquarters reported that the businessman, Bing Tao Su was at his Thomas Street, South Cummingsburg house with his wife and their 17-year-old daughter when the men confronted him.

Bing operates a restaurant with his wife in the lower flat of the house. Police said Bing was closing a window on the eastern side of the house when the four suspects pounced; they pointed the gun at him and demanded the cash. The money was secured in a drawer by the counter.

Police said the men then escaped north on Thomas Street and then subsequently west on New Market Street.

Police investigations are ongoing.
