Gunmen invade Wales supermarket
Two gunmen on Wednesday invaded the People’s Supermarket at Wales, West Bank Demerara, and robbed the proprietor of $115,000 in cash and $50,000 in Digicel phone cards.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that two men, both armed with handguns and wearing face masks, entered the supermarket at around 20:15h, and held the owner, 49-year-old Xin Bang Yu and his 16-year-old assistant at gunpoint at the cashier section.
The suspects then removed the cash and phone cards from the cash register and calmly walked out of the supermarket.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the robbery as investigations continue.
