West Indies T20 Vice-captain Nicholas Pooran lit up the Abu Dhabi T10 on Sunday, smashing a whirlwind 89 off 26 balls to power Northern Warriors to a 30-run win over Bengla Tigers in Match 11 in Abu Dhabi.
Batting first, Northern Warriors made 162-4, the second highest total in the T10 League, with Pooran hammering 12 sixes and three fours. The left-hander cracked 32 runs (four sixes and two fours) in the eighth over, bowled by England’s left-arm fast bowler George Garton.
Pooran and his fellow Trinidadian teammate Lendl Simmons, who opened the batting, added 132 in 53 balls for the second wicket to form the base for Warriors’ total.
Simmons made 41 off 22 (3x4s, 3x6s), while Rovman Powell struck a six and a four in 13* off four.
Karim Jamat took 2-18 for Tigers, who responded with 132-3 with Andre Fletcher scoring 53 off 28 (4x4s, 4x6s) and Chirag Suri 42* off 16 (5x6s).
Bowling for Warriors, Fabian Allen, Wahab Riaz and Junaid Siddique took a wicket each.
