Another COVID death, 13 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health reported on Monday that another person who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The latest fatality is a 58-year-old female from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who died while receiving care at a medical facility. According to the Ministry the patient died on January 31 taking the overall death toll to 177. This is the 13th person to have died for the month of January.

Meanwhile, a total of 13 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Monday from 387 tests, taking Guyana’s overall number of confirmed cases to 7,654.

10 new cases were recorded in Region Four with Regions Two, Three and Five recording one new case each. All other regions recorded no new cases.

To date, 6, 635 persons have recovered.

There are 782 patients in home isolation, 55 patients are in institutional isolation and five patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.
