Commissioner of Police, Nigel Hoppie, DSM, in a simple ceremony recently commended Rural Constable and national cricketer Kemol Savory on his selection to Guyana Jaguars squad to play in the upcoming CG Insurance Regional Super50 Cup in Antigua from February 7-27.

Commissioner Hoppie, who is the head of the Police Force’s Cricket Club, also presented Savory with a pair of batting gloves, pads and a helmet, while at the same time urged the young man to remain disciplined and focused and wished him a successful tournament.

The young wicket-keeper/batsman, who has been in the Force for the past five years, expressed his gratitude and noted that he remains thankful for the tremendous support he has so far received from the Commissioner of Police and the Guyana Police Force.

Meanwhile, V-Net Communications, another long-standing supporter of the 24-year-old, also presented Savory with a pair of wicketkeeping gloves. Savory indicated that V-Net’s Chief Executive Officer, Safraz Sheriffuden, has always lent advice on possible areas of improvement to his game.

The lad from Essequibo also expressed gratitude for all the words of encouragement from friend and former national selectee, Trevor Benn.

Initially, Savory did not make the 15-man squad this year, after playing in 2019, but unfortunate circumstances regarding a positive COVID-19 test for one of the players meant he was drafted in as the replacement.

Additionally, Rising Stars Sports Club of Essequibo released a statement of congratulations to the wicket-keeper/batsman. Below is the full statement.

“The Rising Stars Sport Club from South Essequibo would like to extend congratulations to Kemol Savory, who was awarded a place in the Guyana Jaguars Senior team for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 in Antigua.

We are confident that Kemol will continue to put in his hard work and remain focused and committed to the tasks ahead for his team in the competition.

We know he has the ability to deliver some very good performances in his game which all of his cricket-loving fans will be proud of.

Best wishes to Savory and the Guyana Jaguars team as they hunt the Regional 50-over title in 2021.”
