A total of 66 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Thursday from 258 tests, taking Guyana’s overall number of confirmed cases to 7,780.
Thirty-two new cases were recorded in Region Four, while Region 10 recorded 10 new cases; Region Seven recorded eight new cases with Region Six recording an additional five. Regions Three and Five recorded four new cases each and Region One recorded one new case. No new cases were recorded in Regions Two, Eight and Nine.
An additional two COVID-19 deaths were also recorded on Thursday, taking the overall number to 179.
To date, 6,826 persons have recovered.
There are 710 patients in home isolation, 62 patients in institutional isolation and five patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Liliendaal.
