Team Mohamed’s eyes records as Drag Racing returns February 28

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) will on February 28 host the first Drag Race meet of the year at the South Dakota Circuit.

The Drag Strip’s launch-pad was recently renovated, and will now offer drivers greater traction at the start, and ideally, faster times.

However, while fans will be allowed entry, the definitive number has not been decided upon as yet since the COVID-19 Task Force has to visit and approve that figure.

GMR&SC President Rameez Mohamed explained, “It has been a long wait for the return of any form of racing in Guyana, and what a fitting way to restart with Drag Racing. We are still ironing out some areas as regards how many fans we can allow in the venue and that will soon be made public. However, for those who cannot come we have put systems in place to live stream the event so our loyal fans can still enjoy the thrills from the safety of their homes.”

It is understood, the unstoppable Team Mohamed’s will bring out all three of their dominant GT-Rs.

The improved developments were done by Azruddin Mohamed, owner of Team Mohamed’s, especially that of a brand new launch pad and other enhancements, which will now allow Team Mohamed’s to target the seven-second marker for all three of their beastly fast machines.

In June 2019, Team Mohamed’s white GT-R shattered the Drag Racing record at South Dakota.

The explosion of speed was recorded at 8.099s on the clock in an unchallenged race to wipe out the 8.584s set by the black GT-R (Goliath) in March 2019 on the new quarter-mile strip.

It is expected that the ever-improving Shawn Persaud and his contingent of cars will try to pose a challenge, and while it is still early days, Trans Pacific’s Altezza has not confirmed participation as yet.
