Senior Minister with responsibility for the Ministry of Finance, Dr Ashni Singh has announced that Budget 2021 will be presented to the National Assembly on Friday, February 12.
Dr Singh made the announcement at his office and a brief audio statement was issued by the Department of Public Information (DPI).
Dr Singh and other members of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) government have been consulting and engaging with stakeholders on the budget; the recent consultation was held last week with members of the private sector and the labour representatives.
“We received a lot of very good suggestions from those who were gathered…many on issues that would impact on Budget 2021, others on policy issues for consideration even beyond,” Dr Singh said in his brief statement.
He said the next few days will be intense in finalising the budget, which is expected to continue to deliver on the wide range of promises made in the 2020 elections manifesto of the PPP/C.
He said this year’s budget will continue initiatives outlined in the emergency 2020 Budget.
