Half-centuries from Shimron Hetmyer and Romario Shepherd took Guyana Jaguars to 235 all out in 41.4 overs in their opening match of the CG Insurance Super50 Cup against Barbados Pride on Monday in Antigua.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Guyana Jaguars were given a solid start of 48 in 8.1 overs between Chandrapaul Hemraj and Assad Fudadin, before the latter was dismissed for five off 24 balls.

The Jaguars then slipped to 88-5 after Hemraj was dismissed for 35 off 26 (5x4s, 1×6), captain Leon Johnson for four, Christopher Barnwell for two and Akshaya Persaud for five.

Hetmyer and Bramble, who made 14, added 55 for the sixth wicket to revive the innings. Hetmyer was the next to go, falling to West Indies Test captain Jason Holder for 80 off 52 (8x4s, 4x6s) at 159-7 in the 28th over.

Shepherd then rallied the lower-order, ending on 58* off 52 balls (6x4s, 2x6s), his maiden List A fifty.

Bowling for Barbados Pride, off-spinner Ashley Nurse picked up 3-44, while the fast bowling pair Jason Holder and Chemar Holder had 3-53 and 2-49.
