Plaisance man collapses and dies at ‘West Side’ hotel

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 50-year-old Maurice Watson, who collapsed and died on Wednesday afternoon at the Toucan Hotel located in Kastev Meten-Meer-Zorg on the West Coast of Demerara.

Watson was a businessman who resided at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara. Police received a report at around 13:30h that Watson collapsed in front of his bedroom door.

Ranks at the scene did not notice any marks of violence on his body but they found a “blue pill” in his pocket. Watson was escorted to the Leonora Diagnostic Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The body is presently lying at the Ezekiel funeral home awaiting a post mortem examination.
