21-Y-0 woman found dead in yard

Police are investigating the death of 21-year-old Yashoda Andrews, known as ‘Debbie’, who was found lying face down in her La Retraite Squatting Area, West Bank Demerara yard on Wednesday afternoon.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the woman’s body was found next to a telephone wire at around 15:37h; there were no marks of violence on the body.

Neighbours told the police Andrews was seen lying with the said wire in her hand but it was removed by persons who came to her aid.

Andrews was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Investigations are ongoing.
