Forty-five-year old Anthony Giddings known as “Big head”, of 14 Pitt Street, New Amsterdam was stabbed to death in the wee hours of Friday, reportedly by his reputed wife.
The News Room understands that the 43-year-old female suspect and the victim shared a four-year relationship and lived together.
The woman told police that Giddings would frequently physically abuse her when he consumes alcohol and even broke her arm once.
On the night in question, the woman alleged she and Giddings were at home when he asked her for a lighter to smoke.
When she replied she did not have any, he became annoyed and an argument ensued during which he pulled out a knife from his waist and threatened to stab her ten times. Being fearful for her life, the woman said she ran onto the road and a physical altercation ensued.
During the fight, the woman grabbed the knife from Giddings and stabbed him two times to his left side chest.
The woman left Giddings bleeding and went straight to the Central Police Station to make a report.
The injured man was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
