Fishing boat found with dead bodies
A fishing boat with dead bodies was discovered some 74 miles offshore the capital Georgetown Monday afternoon, Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn has told the News Room.
“There are definitely a couple of dead bodies but we don’t know how many. We cannot be sure based on the images we are seeing, the images and the location were sent and the vessel was put under tow,” the Minister stated.
The boat is being towed to shore, Benn stated.
“It’s going to be at the sea buoy maybe 01:00hrs or 02:00hrs in the morning. It’s about 120 kilometres in the ocean north of port Georgetown and its under tow,” the Minister stated.
According to the Minister, the boat was discovered with the bodies by men who were passing in a tug. The men then contacted the authorities Monday afternoon.
