Reg. 7 continue to record spike in COVID cases

Of the 30 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Tuesday from 108 tests, 22 are from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

The Amerindian village of Waramadong in Region Seven recorded over 70 positive cases a week ago. Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony later stated that nearby villages were refusing to cooperate with the medical team to get tested for the virus.

Of the 30 new cases Tuesday, Region Four recorded three new cases, Region Six recorded two new cases and Region Nine recorded one new case.

To date, 188 persons have died and 7, 486 have recovered.

There are 538 patients in home isolation, 42 are in institutional isolation and eight patients are in the COVID Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
